K11 Art Mall, Hong Kong
K11 First Museum Retail in the world. A revolutionary museum retail concept and a hybrid model of art and commerce founded by Mr Adrian Cheng in 2008, K11 is the world’s first original brand to pioneer the blend of three essential elements of Art • People • Nature.
Art • People • Nature
Art - K11 not only displays a permanent collection of local young artists’ works, but also allows the public to appreciate different local artworks and performance during shopping and leisure through the provision of various multi-dimensional spaces. This can help enhance the communication and exchanges between local artists and the public, nurture habits of art appreciation, and allow young artists to have more opportunities for showcasing their works so as to foster the development of local art.
People - K11 manages, reorganizes and integrates humanity, history and geography of the adjacent regions from various perspectives in different cities. It revitalizes, regenerates and recreates the humanistic experience, art and culture in the regions so as to create a unique K11 multicultural living area.
Nature - Various green design and technology concepts are taken into account in the interior architecture of K11 projects so as to minimize the negative impacts on the natural environment and upgrade the overall quality of urban public premises. Designed with a garden concept, K11 features a multidimensional natural landscape with a variety of local plants, green roof, vertical greening and urban farming, and creates a perfect integration of natural space and local culture so that visitors feel like indulging in an urban oasis and are inspired to consider the intimate relationship between human and nature.

Artist: Yinka Shonibare
Chinese Wall Painting
By Yinka Shonibare, MBE
Artist Statement
Chinese Wall Painting builds upon the artist’s earlier Toy Paintings, which employed batik textile as an alternative to European traditions of painting on canvas. The small toys around the perimeters departs are yet further from Western artistic convention. Here the animal figures invoke characters from the China lunar calendar. This dazzling multitude of swirling panels, the shape of richly colored moons, thus comes to present a depiction of time, cyclical in nature and wholly decentralized, much like the globalised world we have come to inhabit.

Artificial Rock No. 59
By Zhan Wang
Artist Statement
Artificial Rock No. 59, Zhan used Stainless steel to create the shiny surface of the rock. Zhan's artificial rocks are made by hammering sheets of stainless steel onto the surface of a Jiashanshi or Scholar rock. Small pieces are pounded, removed, and then welded together, in an extremely laborious process of craftsmanship, forming a production course sustained by personal expression that seamlessly combines technique and concept. The artist has chosen stainless steel to reflect the colours of the surrounding environment. Its reflective surface are dynamic and in flux, unlimited in scope and variation to create a visual spectacle befitting the post-modern era. Its foremost characteristic is its ability to disappear in an environment, self-effacing and hovering between absence and presence. A scholar’s rock disappears in nature by means of its natural form, whereas the stainless steel mirror-surface does so by reflecting its environment.

Born in 1962 in Beijing, Zhan began his fine arts education at Beijing City Applied Art School in 1983. Dust Tree II
By Jaffa Lam
Artist Statement
The "Dust Tree II" is made from recycled materials: the branches of the tree take their second life from old wood crates and the bronze creatures made by HK secondary school students. Base on the research of local popular tree "Acacia Confuse" & "Bombax Ceiba" for the creation development.
How is this society formed? What is my role in this society? Maybe this tree will let me share the understanding when I am sitting or standing there. The creatures from the forest which the students made act as the metaphor of various people living in this city. This tree could be epitomized as a society more than just a recycled tree, everyone definitely could find him or herself from here. Good luck!

Sand Rippled by Tide
By Mok Yat Sun
Artist Statement
Inspired by ancient Chinese literature I-Ching "Being still and not moving, one would experience and attain the enlightenment of the cosmos, "these works use natural forms to create a sense of silence, warmth and softness, while its metal lattice "weaving" conveys both fragility and strength. It blurs the boundary between what is inside and outside, drawing the two together poetically. These statues invite passers - by not only to reflect but also to stop and rest awhile. Their rippled wave-like shape conveys liveliness and vitality, stimulating the imagination.
